Andrew Ingram HM ’01 died in a plane crash in East Palo Alto Feb. 17.

He was one of three employees of Tesla Motors, a car company working to design environmentally friendly cars, who died in the crash.

Ingram always had a passion for math and science, reported Palo Alto Online. In sixth grade, he even created an eco-friendly air conditioning system for his room.

Ingram attended high school in Santa Rosa, Calif. before enrolling at Harvey Mudd to earn a degree in engineering. According to Palo Alto Online, he later began working with cars, leading him to a job as an engineer at Dolby Laboratories in San Francisco in 2004. He then joined Tesla as an electrical engineer in 2007.
